General Discussion
Neuromyelitis optica, additionally referred to as Devic condition (DD), is a chronic disorder of nerve cells identified by swelling of the optic nerve (optic neuritis) as well as swelling of the spine (myelitis). There seem two kinds of this condition. In the classical, but much less usual monophasic type, one or both optic nerves as well as the spine are influenced by a collection of strikes over a brief period of time (days or weeks) however, after the initial outburst, there is no recurrence. The 2nd kind is much more typical as well as is identified by repeated attacks divided by durations of remission. In this form, the interval between attacks may be weeks, months or years. In its beginning, Devic illness may be puzzled with several sclerosis.
