Hereditary spherocytic hemolytic anemia is an unusual blood problem characterized by problems within red blood cells (intracorpuscular) that cause a minimized survival time for these cells. Red blood cells (erythrocytes) generally circulate for a few months when they die off is changed by new erythrocytes. However, in hereditary spherocytic hemolytic anemia, the cells pass away prematurely.
