Burning mouth disorder (BMS) is characterized by a burning sensation in the mouth and/or tongue. It is typically accompanied by dry mouth and/or a bitter or metallic taste in the mouth. Sometimes, this condition could be associated with vitamin B12 shortage, oral yeast infection (yeast albicans), or inflammation from dentures (dental prosthetics). The burning experience might be intensified by hot, spicy foods but is not dued to them.
